CMET Department Manager

Duties/Responsibilities
- Responsible for the operations of the CMET Department.
- Manages the business, administrative, financial, quality, and safety aspects of the construction materials department. This includes the management of project managers, office administrators, and quality and safety representatives.
- Fully responsible for the implementation of Fugro’s safety and quality management programs for CMET department.
- Active participant in radiation safety, laboratory quality, and vehicle safety plans including maintaining laboratory and safety accreditations, certifications, etc.
- Responsible for overall performance of CMET projects including quality of services, project profitability, accounts receivables, and safety.
- Active participant in client and contracts development, proposals, presentations, and company professional development.
- Assists in the development of CMET department business plan and its implementation.
- Promotes client relationships and works to develop new clients in all sectors of Fugro’s CMET markets.
- Directs employee interviews and selection process.
- Provides training, career guidance, and counseling to field and laboratory technicians.
- Participates in continuing education and professional development.
- Participates in local construction and national construction professional societies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience; or 10 to 15 years of CMET related experience are also acceptable
- Registered P.E. or NICET Level IV certification is preferred.
- Possesses a demonstrated ability to handle operations management.
- Must have a broad knowledge in the inspection and testing of soils, asphalt, concrete, and structural steel.
- Must have a strong ability to motivate employees and be able to communicate in a professional, forthright manner.
- Must be a team builder.
- Must have the ability to multi-task and be highly organized.
- Works well independently as well as with all levels of staff.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work overtime and take phone calls outside normal working hours.
- Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company's processes, including, but not limited to, the Fugro Consultant, Inc., safety program.
- Strong communication skills, including report writing, and public speaking.
